How I grew Alicante Tech Vibes from a WhatsApp group into the biggest tech community in Alicante: 1000+ members from 30+ nationalities, an edition every month, and Meetup's Super Organizer badge.
It didn't start as a plan. It started as a hunch: Alicante was full of brilliant people — engineers, founders, designers, nomads — who all thought they were the only ones here. They just had no room to find each other.
So I opened a WhatsApp group, and the community did the rest. On March 21, 2026 the first edition, Drinks & Startups Demo, brought 45 people and 7 startup demos to Sausalito Premium Club on the marina.
From there I kept the formula simple: roughly one edition a month, and a different format each time — tardeos on the terrace, beach days at Postiguet, a Women in Tech edition and Café Tech build sessions. By August, the Beach Day Hang Out brought 69 people, the biggest edition so far.
Today Alicante Tech Vibes has 1000+ members from 30+ nationalities across WhatsApp and Meetup: the largest independent tech community in Alicante and the Costa Blanca. Meetup recognized it with the Super Organizer badge.
Meetup, the global platform for in-person communities, gave me the Super Organizer badge: it recognizes the organizers whose groups generated the highest levels of participation and community engagement on Meetup in recent months. That credit belongs to everyone who RSVPs and shows up.
